One Mission’s passion is to multiply believers around the world through “Engaging the one to reach the many.” But how can we do that without those who are willing to serve?
A hugely exciting development in 2019 was the acceptance of five new missionary candidates. See below how God is preparing them to serve!
Naomi and Glyn Johnston are preparing to move from Hamilton, New Zealand all the way across the world to Budapest, Hungary. Glyn will be working with the OMS Hungary field to further their ministries through business opportunities. Naomi will be using her media and web skills to capture what God is doing in Hungary and across the Eurasia region and communicating it around the world. They also plan to work within the Roma community of Budapest. In 2020, they will be attending Eastwest Missionary Training College for 6 months, as well as continuing to build their support team.
Sara and Orion Kenny are both serving with OMS as well as pioneering a campus-focused ministry onsite at the University of Waikato in Hamilton, NZ. Orion is passionate about impacting Hamilton and leading young adults into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. Their passion is to grow world changers through authentic relationship and the Gospel message. Sara, from the USA, is OMS NZ’s short term mission coordinator. She connects with those interested in teams, helping them through the application process, pre-training and preparation, and debrief. She will also be the team leader for some of the trips. She has a passion for mission and been on many short trips from a young age.
James McKenzie-Wiley is our newest recruit. James is based in Blenheim and serves on the OMS NZ Trust Board. He has recognised skills in networking and promotion. He will pursue opportunities for OMS to serve the church here in NZ. He is passionate about the short term team experience, having been to Ukraine with OMS twice. He has also been to Canada, Fiji and Mexico on other mission trips. James’ goal is to promote short term teams and our OneWeekend interactive training day for those interested in pursuing a call to missions. He is helping us repackage our material to make it relevant and up to date. He will begin in earnest in 2020, by completing his Ministry studies, support raising and training, as well as working part-time.
Exciting new developments as OMS New Zealand continues its momentum into 2020.
